LED Grow Light Bulbs

With the weather conditions in the UK and Europe being very cold during the winter months, many plant cultivators are interested in new ways to grow plants inside. LED Grow Lights use a light-emitting diode (LED~) to aid plants growth. Hydroponics is the title given to the practice of growing plants without soil. The dirt is subsequently substituted by mineral nutrients inside a water solution. Most hydroponics systems are used indoors, as users have greater control of the conditions such as light, heat and nutrient amounts. The advantages of using LED climbing lamps for hydroponics is that the farmers can precisely control the development of their crops in the lack of sunlight. All plants need nourishment, water and heat but crucially they need light and not just any type of mild aids plant growth. All plants require a specific kind of light that led grow panel provide.

LED Grow Lamps

For professionals and amateurs alike the solution is straightforward – the costs associated with developing plants using standard electric systems is currently too high! With standard electric systems, 90 percent of the electricity used to power a normal hydroponic surroundings goes to waste! The majority of the energy used on the hydroponics system is wasted as heat rather than light. The standard system also requires expensive cooling apparatus to maintain the right temperature. Also fluorescent and HID’s are noisy, they have very large voltage ballasts and require expensive mounting gear compared to the robust LED grow board panels.

One of the main regions of confusion for most people is that standard fluorescent and HID lights actually look brighter than LED lighting. The term brightness is continually utilized to describe how things ‘appear’ to people. The scientific definition of mild intensity/ brightness is the amount of photons which hit a specified surface area within a certain length of time.

LED grow lights accurately aim the wavelengths of crops to help them grow and blossom at the optimum level. HID lights emit a great deal of unnecessary yellow and green spectrum lighting which looks bright to the human eye but is unnecessary for optimal plant growth. High quality LED growing lights have a 95% efficiency rating, that means that nearly all the light emitted is absorbed by the growing plants for photosynthesis. Conventional lights have roughly a 5% efficiency rate.

LED Grow Lamp Options

There are numerous types and configurations of grow lamps. From the normal square grow board into the UFO Grow Light (thus named because of its resemblance to some UFO). It’s always important to take into account the balance between red and blue LED lights on the Grow lamp. The wavelength of lights should be approximately 660nm for red lights and 460nm for blue lights. Blue LED’s are used for growth and Red lights are used for flowering and ripening respectively. The ratio of lights you require on your lamp should be guided by the type of plants you are trying to grow.
